Periods of heavy rain since last evening and potential for ice jams will continue to lead to a the possibility of minor flooding on rivers, streams and creeks. Flooding could also occur in low-lying and poor drainage areas and also in urban areas. Ponding may also occur on area roads, leading to hazardous travel conditions. As temperatures fall well below freezing, any lingering rain will switch to snow through the day from west to east, which will begin to slow the runoff. Residents who live near rivers should watch for ice jams and any flooding. Motorists should be alert for water ponding on roads, especially this morning, as one last batch of moderate rain moves across the area. $$ JLA
