...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM EDT THIS 

EVENING FOR NORTHWESTERN ALBEMARLE, NORTHEASTERN NELSON AND 

SOUTHEASTERN AUGUSTA COUNTIES...



At 621 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 

rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have 

fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 1 hour. 

Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the 

warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.



HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing

         flash flooding.



SOURCE...Radar. Emergency management reported several roads

         washed out with ongoing water rescues along Newtown

         Road.



IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,

         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

This includes the following Flood Prone Roads...

Route 614 along Moorman's River and Highway 635 at North Fork of the 

Rockfish River.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
