...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM EDT THIS 

EVENING FOR YORK COUNTY AND THE CITY OF HAMPTON AND THE SOUTHERN 

CITY OF NEWPORT NEWS...



At 655 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding across 

the warned area, especially in Newport News. Up to 2.5 inches of 

rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are 

possible in the warned area as additional storms move into the area. 

Flash flooding is ongoing.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Newport News, Hampton, Langley AFB, Northampton, Beaconsdale, 

  Hilton Village, Raleigh Terrace and Langley View.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.
