...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 AM CDT THIS 

MORNING FOR SOUTHWESTERN MUSCATINE, CENTRAL KEOKUK, NORTHWESTERN 

LOUISA AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES...



At 610 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 

between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen, particularly from just 

north of Harper and Keota to Washington, Ainsworth and Haskins. 

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the 

warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Washington, Sigourney, Columbus Junction, Wellman, Ainsworth, 

  Conesville, Columbus City, Crawfordsville, Keswick, South English, 

  Harper, Kinross, Hayesville, Cotter, Wyman, Keota, Fredonia, West 

  Chester, Webster and Washington County Fairgrounds.



German Creek, West Fork Crooked Creek, South Fork Long Creek, North 

Fork Long Creek, Goose Creek and Whiskey Run.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
