...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 PM EDT THIS 

EVENING FOR SOUTHWESTERN STEUBEN COUNTY...



At 837 PM EDT, emergency management reported heavy rain around State 

Routes 36, 248, 417, and County Route 68 at Honey Run Road near 

Hornell. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash 

flooding is already occurring.



HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing

         flash flooding.



SOURCE...Emergency management reported.



IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,

         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Hornell, Canisteo, Woodhull, Jasper, Troupsburg, Arkport, 

  Greenwood, Hartsville, South Dansville, North Hornell, Buena 

  Vista, West Greenwood, Young Hickory and Willeyville.



There are closures along State Route 36, State Route 248, and on 

County Route 68 at Honey Run Road near Hornell due to water over 

roadways.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 

Weather Service when you can do so safely.
