The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  Central Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico...



* Until 630 PM MDT.



* At 502 PM MDT, A small thunderstorm has dumped very heavy rainfall 

  near Dona Ana and the north side of Las Cruces. Radar estimates up 

  to an inch of rain has fallen in about 30 minutes. Low water 

  crossings in the area north of US-70 and east of I-25 will likely 

  become inundated shortly.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Flash flooding of arroyos, low water crossings, roads,

           and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and

           low-lying areas.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Dona Ana, and far northern portions of Las Cruces.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. 

Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a 

matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
