...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING...



* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is 

  expected.



* WHERE...A portion of south central Colorado, including the 

  following counties, Mineral and Rio Grande.



* WHEN...Until 700 PM MDT.



* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 

  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 353 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Flooding

    is already occurring in the warned area along highway 160

    with high water reported in creeks and washed out forest

    service roadways. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.

  - Although the heaviest rain has already fallen, additional

    rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area

    through tonight.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Wolf Creek Pass and locations downstream towards South Fork.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris 

flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.



Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where 

you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become 

killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or 

creeks.
