...Texas and the Southeast...

Warm and dry conditions will persist across the Southern Plains and

the Southeast, with relative humidity falling to around 20% in the

lower Mississippi Valley and central/eastern TX. Diffuse surface

pressure gradients under an upper-level ridge will maintain light

east to northeast winds across much of the Southeast and eastern TX

today, mitigating fire spread potential. Sustained south/southeast

winds of up to 15 mph across western TX/TX Panhandle this afternoon

are expected, but recent rainfall and poor overlap with dry fuels

and sufficiently low relative humidity should limit fire weather

concerns.

...Synopsis...

Along the southern periphery of expansive low-level ridging

encompassing the eastern half of the CONUS, warm and dry conditions

will continue from the Southeast into parts of central TX -- where

fuels are becoming increasingly dry. Despite the warm/dry conditions

amid receptive fuels, generally light northeasterly to easterly

surface winds (around 10 mph) will limit the wildfire-spread threat.
