This local statement provides important information and

recommended actions for people in Guam and the Northern Marianas.



.Watches/Warnings...

A tropical storm watch remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian,

and Saipan. Tropical storm conditions including winds of 39 mph 

or greater are possible as early as Tuesday night or Wednesday.



.STORM INFORMATION...

At 7 PM ChST...the center of Tropical Storm Man-yi (25W) was

located near latitude 14.2N...longitude 151.8E. This was about

470 miles east of Guam. Storm motion was south-southwest,

210 degrees, at 10 mph. Storm intensity was 40 mph.



.SITUATION OVERVIEW...

The forecast track has maintained slight southward shifts today 

with the latest forecast track bringing an intensifying TS Man-

yi near Guam or Rota early Wednesday.

before conditions deteriorate. Keep informed while listening for 

possible warnings. Secure loose outdoor objects which can be blown

around.

...Winds...

As Tropical Storm Man-yi (25W) moves closer, the threat for 

sustained high winds is likely to increase. The latest forecast is

for winds of 39 mph or higher to reach the islands late Tuesday 

night into Wednesday morning.



.Inundation and coastal flooding...

High surf of 9 feet or higher is likely for east-facing reefs. 

Additional reefs may need to be added to this risk with later 

forecasts. Increasing winds and surf may lead to localized 

coastal inundation up to a foot along windward shores.



...Inland flooding...

The heaviest rains will be near and to the north of the center of

the storm, but in general, 3 to 6 inches of rainfall is possible  

across the Marianas.
