Point Betsie to Sleeping Bear Point MI...

Sleeping Bear Point to Grand Traverse Light MI...



At 1004 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts

were located along a line extending from 17 nm southeast of Cana

Island Light to 10 nm west of Point Betsie to near Manistee Light,

moving east at 35 knots.



HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and small hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

         hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

         higher winds and suddenly higher waves.



Locations impacted include...

Manistee Light, Empire, Point Betsie, Glen Arbor, Pierport, Portage

Lake, North Manitou Island, Arcadia, Sleeping Bear Point, Leland,

Pyramid Point, Williamsport, Manistee, South Manitou Island,

Frankfort, and Cat Head Point.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 300 AM EDT for northern

Michigan...and the adjacent waters of Lake Michigan.



Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are

expected.
