The thunderstorm has moved out of the warned area and no longer 

poses a significant threat to boaters.



A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 PM EDT for

southern New Jersey...and the adjacent coastal waters.

Coastal waters from Great Egg Inlet to Cape May NJ out 20 nm...

Waters from Cape May NJ to Fenwick Island DE out 20 to 40 nm...

Waters from Great Egg Inlet NJ to Cape May NJ out 20 to 40 nm...



At 209 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts

was located over Wildwood Reef, moving southeast at 25 knots.



HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and large hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

         hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

         higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could 

         result in structural damage.

The Lump, 28-

Mile Wreck, Five Fathoms Buoy, Buoy 2fb, Buoy 4fb, Buoy 3fb, Cape May

Reef, Sea Isle City, Cape May Point, Buoy 2ms, Wildwood Reef, and

Wildwood.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.



Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the

open water, stay below deck if possible and keep away from ungrounded

metal objects.
