Waters from Great Egg Inlet NJ to Cape May NJ out 20 to 40 nm...



At 234 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts

was located near Five Fathoms Buoy, moving southeast at 30 knots.



HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, and large 

         hail.



SOURCE...Marine weather spotter.



IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

         hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural 

         damage in high winds and hail. Small craft could capsize in 

         suddenly higher waves.



Locations impacted include...

28-Mile Wreck, Five Fathoms Buoy, Buoy 2fb, Buoy 2ms, Buoy 4fb, and

Cape May Reef.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.



Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the

open water, stay below deck if possible and keep away from ungrounded

metal objects.
