For the following areas...

Chandeleur Sound...

Coastal Waters from Boothville LA to Southwest Pass of the

Mississippi River out 20 nm...

Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island out 20

NM...



At 954 AM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing

waterspouts were located along a line extending from 17 nm southeast

of Chandeleur Sound to 25 nm east of Breton Sound, moving east at 5

knots.



HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage 

         vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. 

         Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

         suddenly higher waves.



A cluster of severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly open

waters.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Boaters should avoid waterspouts and never try to navigate near them.

Move to safe harbor or shelter immediately until the threat passes.
