...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER WESTERN HAWK CHANNEL, THE OFFSHORE GULF 

WATERS, AND FLORIDA STRAITS, AND THE BAYSIDE AND GULFSIDE WATERS... 



The areas affected include... Hawk Channel and Straits of Florida 

from west end of Seven Mile Bridge to Halfmoon Shoal out 60 nm... 

Gulf Waters from East Cape Sable to Chokoloskee 20 to 60 nm out and 

beyond 5 fathoms... Gulf of America from west end of Seven Mile 

Bridge to Halfmoon Shoal out to 5 fathoms... Straits of Florida from 

Halfmoon Shoal to 20 nm west of Dry Tortugas out 60 nm...



At 142 AM EDT, National Weather Service meteorologists detected a 

strong line of thunderstorms, capable of producing wind gusts near 

30 knots. This line of thunderstorms was located along a line 

extending from 11 nm southeast of D Tower to 49 nm south of Twenty-

Eight Foot Shoal Light. The line was nearly stationary, but with 

individual cells moving north at 25 knots.



Locations that will be affected include...

Marquesas Keys, Cosgrove Shoal Light, Smith Shoal Light, Boca Grande,

Northwest Channel Buoy 1, and Cottrell Key.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for thunderstorms with wind gusts near 30 knots, locally

rough and confused seas, occasional lightning strikes, and

potentially blinding downpours. Get to a safe port as quickly, and as

safely as possible. When downpours reduce visibility, slow down.
