Due to a mandatory system upgrade at the Juneau National Weather Service Forecast Office, an extended NOAA Weather Radio outage is expected. The system outage is scheduled for May 27 to 29, 2025, but could last longer. Customers of NOAA Weather Radio and the Alaska Weather Information Line phone service should plan to use alternative forecast resources during this period, including: - Forecasts and observations online at: weather.gov/Juneau - Local radio stations - Marine Exchange of Alaska: mxak.org In the event of significant weather during this outage, our office will work with the USCG to transmit that information over their emergency Channel 16 and other transmitters. We will also coordinate with the Marine Exchange of Alaska to transmit that information over their AIS system.
