Light scattered rain continues this morning through the early afternoon. Severe weather is not expected, but a few lightning strikes cannot be ruled out. Rainfall totals will be low, with most areas seeing a tenth of an inch or less. Areas along and east of I- 29 may see up to a quarter of an inch of rainfall as the showers will become more organized there late this morning into early afternoon. Highs today will be in the 60s, with relative humidity values 35% or higher. Fire danger will be low to moderate. A lull in shower activity this afternoon is followed by another round of scattered light showers to scattered weak thunderstorms this evening. Coverage of this round is less certain as guidance is in low agreement. In general the area most likely to see storms is along and west of the James River Valley and into the southern Missouri River Valley. The atmosphere this evening is slightly more favorable for weak thunderstorms. Severe weather is not expected, but some thunderstorms may include wind gusts of 40-50 mph. Total accumulation will again be light, around a tenth of an inch or less. Storms should be clear of the area by Friday mid-morning. Highs for Friday will be cooler, in the low 60s with low fire danger.
