...River Statement For The Cahaba River...



.Recent heavy rainfall has produced rises on the Cahaba River.

However, levels are expected to remain below established flood

stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor nature.





The Cahaba River at Marion Junction.

* At 9:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 25.7 feet.

* Action stage is 15.0 feet.

* Flood stage is 36.0 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below action stage early

  Saturday morning and then continue to fall to 9.0 feet by Tuesday

  morning.

* Impact...At 36.0 feet...Flooding is confined mainly to farm and

  pasture lands in the area.





Another statement will be issued by Friday morning, or sooner if

conditions warrant.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has

already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next

48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may

become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
