...River Statement For The Tallapoosa River...



.Recent heavy rainfall is producing rises on the Tallapoosa River at

the Tallapoosa Water Plant and at Milstead. However, levels are

expected to remain below established flood stages, and any overflow

along the river should be of minor nature.





The Tallapoosa River at The Tallapoosa Water Plant.

* At 9:15 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 19.5 feet.

* Action stage is 15 feet.

* Flood stage is 25 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.5 feet

  this evening.

* Impact...At 15 feet...Low areas near the junction with the Coosa

  River begin to overflow. Extensive flooding of low lying areas

  begins between US 231 and the river at stages of 15 to 25 feet.





The Tallapoosa River at Milstead.

* At 8:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 20.1 feet.

* Action stage is 15 feet.

* Flood stage is 40 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 5.5 feet Sunday

  morning.

* Impact...At 25 feet...Considerable low land flooding occurs.

  Livestock should be moved to higher ground.

Selma and Montgomery. However, levels are expected to remain below

established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be

of minor nature.





The Alabama River at Selma.

* At 9:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 33.8 feet.

* Action stage is 30 feet.

* Flood stage is 45 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 36.5 feet

  tomorrow evening.

* Impact...At 30 feet...Pasture lands below Selma become flooded.





The Alabama River at Montgomery.

* At 9:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 31.1 feet.

* Action stage is 26 feet.

* Flood stage is 35 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 31.2 feet

  this afternoon.

* Impact...At 35 feet...Extensive flooding of low lands in the area

  occurs.

However, levels are expected to remain below established flood

stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor nature.





The Catoma Creek at The U.S. 331 Highway Bridge.

* At 9:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 19.1 feet.

* Action stage is 17 feet.

* Flood stage is 20 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.3 feet

  this afternoon.

* Impact...At 20 feet...Flooding of agricultural lands in the

  vicinity of the U.S. 331 Highway Bridge occurs.
