...SPECIAL AVALANCHE ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4:30 PM FRIDAY UNTIL 

4:30 PM SUNDAY...



* WHAT... Dangerous avalanche conditions quickly develop as a winter 

  storm brings heavy snowfall that falls on a weak snowpack.



* WHERE... La Plata Mountains and San Juan Mountains.



* WHEN... Expect dangerous avalanche conditions to begin Friday 

  night and last until Sunday afternoon.



* IMPACTS... Heavy snow and strong winds will create dangerous 

  avalanche conditions by Saturday morning. Large and dangerous 

  avalanches will be easy to trigger. 



* PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel in avalanche terrain 

  requires cautions route finding to stay safe. Avoid travel on and 

  under slopes steeper than about 30 degrees. You can find more
