WAKE...CHATHAM AND SOUTHWESTERN DURHAM COUNTIES THROUGH 630 AM EDT...



At 524 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms and 

strong winds ahead of these storms along a line extending from 7 

miles northwest of Rougemont to near Spencer.

Movement was southeast at 40 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Raleigh, Greensboro, Durham, Cary, High Point, Chapel Hill,

Burlington, Asheboro, Lexington, and Graham.

Strong winds may occur well ahead of any rain or lightning. Do not

wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover. SEEK SHELTER

IMMEDIATELY inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.
