...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN MACON...SOUTHWESTERN

TRANSYLVANIA AND SOUTH CENTRAL JACKSON COUNTIES THROUGH 600 AM EDT...



At 534 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 12

miles southwest of Franklin, or 10 miles southeast of Nantahala Lake,

moving east at 40 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Highlands, Scaly Mountain, Cashiers, Otto, Rainbow Springs, Whiteside

Mountain, Cullasaja, Franklin, Ellijay, and Bad Creek.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until noon EDT for
