...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT EAST CENTRAL ESSEX...

NORTHWESTERN ADDISON AND SOUTHERN CHITTENDEN COUNTIES THROUGH 315 PM

EDT...



At 227 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over

Kingsland Bay State Park, moving northeast at 20 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Fort Cassin Point, Mcneil Cove, Ferrisburg, Charlotte, Sloop Island,

Shelburne Falls, Wings Point, Town Farm Bay, Meach Island, Winooski,

Porter Bay, Orchard Point, Queneska Island, North Ferrisburgh, Louis

Clearing Bay, Fields Bay, Juniper Island, Monkton Ridge, Converse

Bay, and Burlington Bay.



This includes Interstate 89 between mile markers 74 and 96.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead 

to localized flooding. 



If on or near southern Lake Champlain near Charlotte, get out of the 

water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can 

strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear 

thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to 

safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.



A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for

northern New York...and central and northwestern Vermont.
