SITUATION At 0600 UTC a Tropical Low was centred within 25 nautical miles of latitude seventeen decimal six south (17.6S) longitude one hundred and three decimal one east (103.1E) Recent movement : south southwest at 8 knots Maximum winds : 40 knots Central pressure: 1000 hPa The low is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone, but gales are expected in the southern quadrants for the next 24 hours. AREA AFFECTED Within 90 nautical miles in SW quadrant FORECAST Maximum winds to 40 knots near the centre in southern quadrants. Winds above 34 knots within 90 nautical miles in SW and SE quadrants, with rough seas and moderate swell. Winds reducing to within 100 nautical miles of SW quadrant only by 1200 UTC 10 January.
