Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between

the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is

based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar,

and meteorological analysis.

TRADE-WIND TROUGHS...

A trade-wind trough runs from 1N140E to 10N138E to 17N140E. Scattered

showers and isolated thunderstorms are found just east of the

Republic of Palau and over western Yap State, including Yap Island.

This trough is forecast to move westward through Tuesday, which

will have it moving away from Yap Island while affecting Koror,

Palau, with little change of intensity.



Another trade-wind trough lies over the Marianas, and is generating

widely scattered showers and mid-level clouds near Tinian and Saipan.

This trough is forecast to move westward past the islands through

Tuesday, with little change of intensity.



UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH...

An upper-level trough is creating scattered showers and a few

thunderstorms just southeast of Chuuk Lagoon and just south of

Pohnpei. This feature is expected to show little change in either

location or intensity through Tuesday.



OTHER SYSTEMS...

The cold front mentioned on Sunday has retreated north of 25N and is

therefore no longer within Micronesia.
