Through 800 pm, numerous showers with scattered embedded thunderstorms will be concentrated over the near through offshore waters surrounding the Upper Keys, and move northeastward at 15 mph. The stronger activity over the Florida Straits will produce wind gusts near 35 mph, occasional lightning strikes, and blinding downpours. A few of these cells will track across the Upper Keys, delivering an additional three quarters to one and three quarters of an inch of rain. Elsewhere, clusters of showers and thunderstorms will move into the deep gulf waters west of Chokoloskee, as well as, the Florida Straits 10 to 30 nm southwest of the Dry Tortugas. $$
