...River Statement For The Coosa River...

.Heavy rainfall over the past several days will keep river stages
elevated. However, levels are still expected to remain below
established flood stages, and any overflow along the river or lake
should be of minor nature.


The Coosa River at Weiss Dam.
* At 7:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 564.1 feet.
* Action stage is 564.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 567.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to 564.5 feet Monday morning. It
  will then fall again and remain below flood stage.
* Impact...At 564.5 feet...Nuisance flooding of some lakeside
  property occurs.


Another statement will be issued by Friday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
