...River Statement For The Tennessee River at Decatur...

Runoff from rainfall is expected to cause river levels to rise
rapidly on the Tennessee River at Decatur. Although it is not
expected to reach flood stage, some nuisance flooding of lowlands may
still occur. If additional rainfall occurs, the river could still
reach Flood Stage.

The Tennessee River at Decatur.
* At 7:00 PM CST Thursday the stage was 6.4 feet.
* Action stage is 7.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will fall to 6.3 feet just after midnight
  tonight. It will then rise to 6.8 feet early Saturday afternoon. It
  will fall to 6.6 feet early Monday afternoon. It will then rise to
  6.7 feet Tuesday morning. It will fall again and remain below flood
  stage.
* Impact...At 7.0 feet...Backwater issues and nuisance flooding
  begins at this level as the Tennessee River backs up into
  tributaries along the river. Specifically, backwater issues begin
  at Point Mallard Campground with water beginning to flood the lower
  portions of the river bank, affecting the Spirit of America
  Pavilion along a nearby slough.


All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts, and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property from rising river levels.Additional information is
