...River Statement For The Coosa River...

.Heavy rainfall during the past 48 hours is producing rises on the
Coosa River. However, levels are expected to remain below established
flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor
nature.


The Coosa River at Logan Martin Dam.
* At 7:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 465.7 feet.
* Action stage is 465.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 467.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to 465.9 feet tomorrow evening. It
  will then fall to 465.5 feet early Saturday morning. It will rise
  to 465.6 feet early Saturday afternoon. It will then fall to 465.0
  feet Monday morning. It will then rise again but remain below flood
  stage.
* Impact...At 465.5 feet...Some minor flooding of lakeside
  property...including piers and boat ramps...occurs.


Another statement will be issued by Thursday evening, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
