A prolonged northerly outflow dry and cold period around the third quarter of the month and lighter, more showery, type precipitation made the month appreciably drier than normal. Juneau Airport received 3.65 inches of liquid equivalent precipitation, which was 2.89 inches below normal; Sitka Airport received 6.69 inches, which was 3.22 inches below normal; Ketchikan Airport received 12.21 inches, which was 4.86 inches below normal, and Yakutat Airport received 8.52 inches of liquid equivalent precipitation, which was 5.03 inches below normal for the month of November. The cold temperatures during the northerly outflow event made up for the warmer than normal temperatures experienced during the first half of the month, bringing to the daily average temperatures back down to around normal values by the closing of the month. The area picked up the the vast majority of its snowfall during the last quarter of November with the Juneau Airport receiving a total of 10.1 inches of snow accumulation. That amount was 3.7 inches below normal for the month. As far as records are concerned, Juneau Airport broke their daily maximum rainfall record on the 5th of November. They received 0.89 inches of rain, which broke their old record of 0.76 inches, which was set way back in 1938. Chambers $$
