IN FACT, SHREVEPORT RANKED AS HAVING THE WARMEST OCTOBER ON RECORD WITH AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 73.6 DEGREES, SURPASSING THE OLD RECORD OF 73.4 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1934. DESPITE THE BELOW NORMAL RAINFALL, SHREVEPORT DID NOT RANK IN THE TOP 30 DRIEST OCTOBERS ON RECORD, ALTHOUGH THE MAJORITY OF THE MONTHLY TOTAL OF 1.49 INCHES WAS OBSERVED DURING THE FINAL TWO DAYS OF THE MONTH AFTER OBSERVING 31 CONSECUTIVE DAYS WITHOUT MEASURABLE RAINFALL DATING BACK TO LATE SEPTEMBER. THIS CONSECUTIVE PERIOD WITHOUT MEASURABLE RAIN RANKED AT THE 21ST LONGEST SUCH PERIOD OF RECORD (TIED WITH SEPTEMBER 13TH-OCTOBER 13TH, 1892). THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS AN INCREDIBLE 98 DEGREES WHICH WAS OBSERVED ON THE 13TH. THIS TEMPERATURE SMASHED THE ORIGINAL RECORD OF 92 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1963, AND TIED FOR THE SECOND HOTTEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WITH OCTOBER 3RD, 2019 AND OCTOBER 15TH, 2015. FOR REFERENCE, THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED DURING THE MONTH WAS 99 DEGREES SET BACK ON OCTOBER 1ST, 1938. OTHER HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE ALSO TIED OR SET ON THE 23RD, 24TH, 26TH, 27TH, AND 28TH, WITH A HIGHEST MINIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORD ALSO SET ON THE 30TH. NO STRONG OR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AFFECTED THE SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER CITY AREA DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER, ALTHOUGH THE LACK OF SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL AND THE MUCH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF SEVERE DROUGHT CONDITIONS ACROSS THE AREA DURING THE MIDDLE AND LATTER HALF OF THE MONTH. $$ 15
