...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...

  Eastern Long Island Sound...
  Peconic and Gardiners Bays...

At 846 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from near Essex Village to near Herod
Point, moving east at 20 knots.

Locations impacted include...
Horton Point, Orient Point, Fishers Island Sound, Great Peconic Bay,
Little Peconic Bay, Shelter Island Sound, Gardiners Bay, The Race,
Six Mile Reef, and Mattituck Inlet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek
safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
