The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has extended 
the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Carteret County in eastern North Carolina...
  Southern Dare County in eastern North Carolina...
  Southeastern Hyde County in eastern North Carolina...

* Until 1245 PM EDT.

* At 1123 AM EDT, Doppler radar continues to show heavy rain falling 
  across the warned area. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain have 
  fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly. Recently, National Park Service reported a 
  closure of their Cape Point Campgrounds due to flooding.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Public reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

  Frisco, Cedar Island, Buxton, Avon, Atlantic, Salvo, Waves, 
  Rodanthe, Portsmouth Village, Ocracoke Light House, Ocracoke Ferry 
  Terminal, Ocracoke Lighthouse, Hatteras Ferry Terminal, Cedar 
  Island Ferry Terminal, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Avon Pier and 
  Hatteras Island Fishing Pier.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
