...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the
  following counties, Alamance, Chatham, Davidson, Durham,
  Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax,
  Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Nash, Orange, Person, Randolph, Sampson,
  Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne and Wilson.

* WHEN...Until 11 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
  in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Flash flooding will be possible this afternoon and evening,
    mainly along and north and east of US-64 including the Triad,
    Triangle, Rocky Mount, Goldsboro, and Roanoke Rapids. Heavy
    rainfall in previous days has saturated the soils over a good
    portion of the region. Additional showers and thunderstorms
    this afternoon into the evening should produce areas of heavy
    rainfall. Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches, with locally
    higher amounts expected, may produce excessive runoff and
    flash flooding.

to take action should flooding develop.
