...SOUNDSIDE FLOODING AND HIGH SURF GRADUALLY IMPROVES THROUGH
WEDNESDAY...
.A coastal low pressure system is rapidly moving away from the
area. Strong northwest winds has brought minor coastal flooding
to soundside locations along Hatteras and Ocracoke Island, but has
peaked and will gradually recede into Wednesday morning. The low
continues to rapidly intensify as it moves away from the area with
high surf conditions continuing overnight.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT
WEDNESDAY...
* LOCATIONS...Minor soundside flooding for the Outer Banks from
near Rodanthe south to Ocracoke Island. High surf along all
Outer Banks beaches.
* TIDAL DEPARTURE...Water levels around 2 feet above normal
leading to inundation around 1 foot above ground level.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor flooding of around 1 foot above
ground level (around 2 feet above normal).
* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Minor beach erosion and local ocean over
wash possible.
* SURF HEIGHT...8 to 12 feet.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
