...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following 
  counties, Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union and southeast New York, 
  including the following counties, Bronx, New York (Manhattan) and 
  Westchester.

* WHEN...Until 1215 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1041 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain
    has fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of one half to 1 inch are
    expected over the area. This additional rain will result in
    minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Newark, Yonkers, Elizabeth, New Rochelle, Mott Haven,
    Hoboken, Plainfield, Bloomfield, East Tremont, Hackensack,
    Orange, Bergenfield, Paramus, Summit, Lyndhurst, Millburn,
    Rutherford, Secaucus, Harrison and Ridgefield.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
