A cold air mass will linger over the area over the next few days.
Temperatures in the Valley may drop to around freezing in wind 
sheltered areas, potentially into the upper 20s locally in some 
spots in the northern San Joaquin Valley and the foothills, with 
single digits to 20s in the mountains. Some breezy northerly 
winds continue, becoming gusty in the afternoon for Monday and 
Tuesday.

* Timing: This morning through Wednesday morning. 

* Low Temperatures: Monday morning lows in the single digits and
  teens in the mountains, low to mid 30s in the Valley and
  foothills. Tuesday morning lows in the single digits to 20s in
  the mountains, low 30s in the Sacramento Valley, low 30s down to
  locally upper 20s in the northern San Joaquin Valley and 
  foothills. 

* High temperatures: Monday and Tuesday in the 30s and 40s in the
  mountains, low to mid 50s in the Valley. Wednesday 40s to 50 in
  the mountains, mid 50s to mid 60s in the Valley.

* Winds: Afternoon wind gusts 20 to 30 mph in the Valley and 30 to
  40 mph over higher mountains Monday and Tuesday. 
 
* Impacts: Cold temperatures could injure sensitive outdoor
  plants. Winds combined with cold temperatures in the mountains
  could affect outdoor recreation activities.
