...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN COCKE AND CENTRAL
GREENE COUNTIES THROUGH 745 PM EDT...

At 656 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms near Parrottsville, or 11 miles northeast of Newport,
moving north at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Caney Branch, Bybee, Cedar Creek, Mohawk, Mosheim, Greeneville,
Parrottsville, and Newport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in Morristown.
